Growing Herbs on the Windowsill

You can make your home look charming and inviting by planting herbs on the windowsill. This can be done on pots or special boxes. There are even some owners that customise their sills for gardening purposes. If you want to turn your ledge into a beautiful mini-garden, make sure that it gets lots of sunlight.

The first thing you need to do is prepare the herbs. If you have an herbal plot outside your home, you can transfer some of them to your windowsill. But if you are just starting out, you can buy your favourites from a local nursery.

If your ledge is specially-created for planting, you need to fill it with soil with a depth of 2-3 inches. Then, position the herbs gently and finish filling in the loam. When watering, do not pour the whole container right away. You just have to slowly sprinkle because herbal plants do not like wet soil. Lastly, put in fertiliser each month to support their growth.
